8K 360 VR DRONE | Recon + Emergency

The ability to see around the corner will be a critical component for both in situ research and safety for future Mars astronauts. Drones, which can be quickly and precisely deployed, offer powerful assistance with both.

Adapa 360 is an Oslo-based company specializing in custom 360 camera and drone rigs, is building an 8K 360 virtual reality drone for Crew 261’s mission. The drone will be utilized for a number of applications, including field research and EVA planning, safety tests. Additionally, the drone will allow for collection of VR compatible video content for realistic mapping of the Mar Desert Research Station area and surrounding terrain (learn more about the Mars Desert Research Station VR project:

RATIONALE / HYPOTHESIS

The Adapa 360 drone will enable high resolution capture for VR Mars, which will be used for training of future analog astronauts. The drone also has utility as tool in unfolding recon and emergency situations.
